BeardMonkey is the registered business name of Jonathan Stephens, an Australian sole trader (ABN 94 832 061 094), based in Perth, Western Australia. Jonathan is responsible for this site and its contact forms.

There are four ways to write to BeardMonkey on this site. The short contact form asks for a name, an email address and a message. The website and Audit forms also ask about your organisation, your website and what you would like to understand. The homepage assistant can hand you over to Jonathan, and asks for the same three things: a name, an email address and a short summary you can edit before you send it.

The two longer forms also carry a small number of optional questions, including timing and any context you want to add. Each form collects what it visibly asks for and nothing else. There is no account to create and no newsletter to join.

So Jonathan can understand your enquiry and reply to it. That is the whole purpose.

When you send a form, this site passes it to Resend, an email delivery service, which turns it into an ordinary email to BeardMonkey. Your address is used as the reply address so Jonathan can answer you directly.

BeardMonkey does not keep a copy in a database of its own. Resend handles the message as an email provider does, and its own terms and privacy policy govern that handling. Resend does not publish a retention period for message content, so this page does not claim one; its data processing terms say customer data is deleted within 90 days of an account being closed. Resend’s data processing terms say its primary processing operations take place in the United States. The message is also held in the mailbox it arrives in.

What you write belongs to the conversation you started. No marketing profile and no mailing-list subscription is created from it, and it is not used to send you unrelated messages.

Please do not put passwords, logins, payment details or confidential information into a form. Nothing on this site needs them.

If something sensitive is genuinely needed later, there will be a safer way to share it than a web form.

The homepage lets you ask a question in your own words. Questions the site can place confidently are answered on your own device from BeardMonkey’s own material, with nothing sent anywhere.

When that cannot place a question, the question is sent securely to OpenAI for one narrow job: to say which BeardMonkey topic, if any, it belongs to. OpenAI never writes the answer you read. Every word you see comes from BeardMonkey’s own approved material, and if no topic fits you are simply offered the ordinary starting points instead.

There is no separate permission step and no notice beside the question, because there is no decision for you to make: the site either answers you from what it holds, or tells you it could not place the question. BeardMonkey’s own application does not deliberately store or log the question, and nothing about it is remembered after the answer is shown.

BeardMonkey does not currently restrict OpenAI’s processing to a particular region. OpenAI states that data sent to its API is not used to train its models unless a customer opts in, and BeardMonkey has not. It also states that abuse-monitoring logs are generated for API use and kept for up to 30 days, so a copy of the question can exist on OpenAI’s side for that period and, in the circumstances OpenAI describes, be reviewed. BeardMonkey has not enabled zero data retention, and does not claim it.

You can ask what has been kept about you, ask for it to be corrected, or request deletion. Write and say what you would like done. Some records may need to be retained for legitimate business or legal reasons.

Some links on this site open a page run by someone else. Once you have followed one, that company’s own privacy terms apply and this page no longer describes what happens.

The assistant on the homepage is not one of those. It is part of this site, it does not send you anywhere, and what happens behind it is described above.
